The Benefits of a BMW 3 Series Key Fob

Proximity Keys
Proximity keys are the most recent technology in keyless entry systems. Instead of requiring physical contact, they utilize a proximity sensor to identify the key, allowing the driver to open the doors and start the engine. While this technology is convenient, it does present some security risks.
The main problem is that they can be stolen, just like smartphones and laptops. Criminals are able to hack into the system to send the signals for identification to an accomplice nearby, or use a simple amplifier to receive the signals. Some drivers keep their key fobs in a read more signal blocking pouch or cover to ward off this.
Another issue is when drivers fail to shut off their vehicle prior to leaving. If they leave the car running while at the grocery store or putting it in a cup holder can cause it to begin running and cause theft or carbon monoxide poisoning. Many drivers forget to put their keys in the ignition when they park at home, believing that the vehicle is off. This can lead either to theft or, if you own a hybrid car carbon monoxide, while your family is sleeping.
If the key fob is damaged or the battery is dead it will not start, even if you own the key that opens the door. It is important to have a spare smart key or spare key made so that you or a trusted person can gain access to your vehicle in the event of an emergency.

Remote Start
If you have a BMW with Remote Start you can use your key fob or the BMW Connected App to start your car prior to getting into. BMW key fobs can accommodate up to three driver profiles, meaning you can modify your vehicle's settings according to the keys you have with you.
